Senior Jihadi Sheikh: Joining Libyan Security Forces Is Permissible Only In Order To Take Control Of Them From Within Or Limit Influence Of Secularists In Them
On September 24, 2012, the jihadi website Minbar Al-Tawhid Wal-Jihad published a fatwa by a member of its Shari'a Committee, the prominent sheikh Abu Mundhir Al-Shinqiti. The fatwa states that joining the apparatuses of the Libyan interior or defense ministries (i.e., the Libyan security forces) is permissible only if the intention is to take them over from within or at least to minimize the influence of secularists in them.
