Report on the Jihad in Northwest China

The website www.eastrenturkistan.net (hosted by Yahoo! in California, USA) recently posted a short report on the jihad in "East Turkistan" (i.e. Xinjiang province in northwest China, which has a large Muslim population).

The report notes that this information is being posted in response to questions from Muslims from all over the world about the situation of the jihad in that region. It further says that the jihad in East Turkistan is at a stage that requires discretion, and therefore the report includes only information already reported by the international media.

The following are excerpts from the report:[1]

"… The project of translating news [from East Turkistan] is still delayed by technical difficulties and financial problems… but we have laid down plans [for carrying it out in the future]…

"… As for the jihad itself, it is taking place, as can be inferred from reports about East Turkistan that have recently been published in all the international media…"

"... The current stage of jihad [in this region] requires us to be discreet, and to refrain from disclosing all the information at our disposal. Therefore, we are presenting only news that has already been reported in the international media…

"… [The mujahideen in East Turkistan are] under siege and are facing grave difficulties…We do not want to be the source that exposes [their] jihad operations against the loathsome Chinese enemy…"
